FY25 Baltimore Harbor and Channels Maintenance Dredging, Maryland Channels, Chesapeake Bay, MD   2

Background
The FY25 Baltimore Harbor and Channels Maintenance Dredging project is issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and aims to maintain the deep-draft federal navigation channels serving the Port of Baltimore. The mission is to ensure safe and efficient navigation in these critical waterways, supporting commercial activities in the region.

Work Details
The project involves maintenance dredging of approximately 2,290,000 cubic yards (cy) from various channels. The dredging depth ranges from 22 to 50 feet mean lower low water (ft MLLW), with an additional allowable overdepth of 1 to 2 feet. Specific tasks include:
- Dredging approximately 1,740,000 cy from Maryland approach channels (Craighill Entrance, Craighill Angle, Cutoff Angle, Upper Range Channels) to be placed at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystems Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
- Dredging approximately 550,000 cy from Baltimore Harbor Channels (Fort McHenry Channel and Curtis Creek Channel) to be placed at the Cox Creek Dredged Material Containment Facility.
- Utilization of equipment such as two clamshell dredges (30+ cubic yards), a hydraulic unloader (24-30 inches), six to eight large tugs, six to eight material scows (2,500-6,000 cubic yards), a drag bar and barge, along with necessary attendant plant and pipeline. The dredging will be performed using clamshell/bucket methods and scows.

Period of Performance
The work is scheduled to be performed between November 2024 through March 2025, with an estimated performance duration of approximately 120 calendar days from receipt of Notice-to-Proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will take place within the heavy commercial waterways supporting the Port of Baltimore in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland.
