Forest Service - Cerro Alto Campground Sinkhole & Culvert Repair (ERFO)

Background
The Cerro Alto Campground Sinkhole & Culvert Repair project is issued by the Los Padres National Forest, which is part of the U.S. Forest Service. The mission of the Forest Service is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation's forests and grasslands for the benefit of current and future generations. This contract aims to repair a sinkhole in the Cerro Alto Campground Road, ensuring safe access and environmental protection in this area.

Work Details
The contractor will perform repairs on an existing sinkhole by replacing a rusted 36-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culvert with a new 36-inch CMP culvert. The work includes installing a new tapered inlet armored with Class 1 riprap at both the inlet and outlet locations. The contractor will also fill and compact void areas, install Class II aggregate base (AB) material, and pave patched areas. Additionally, there is a requirement to place Class I riprap at a second location outlet. The contract encompasses all necessary equipment, labor, materials, services, and permits for these tasks.

Period of Performance
The estimated construction start date is May 2025, with a completion timeframe of 14 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The project will be performed at Cerro Alto Campground, located approximately 9 miles west of Atascadero off Highway 41 in San Luis Obispo County, California.
