FDA Nationwide Ergonomic Consultative Services

Background
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking to procure Nationwide Ergonomic Consultative Services to support its Office of Facilities Engineering and Mission Support (OFEMS), specifically the Employee Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) team.

The goal of this contract is to enhance workplace safety and productivity by minimizing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) through a comprehensive ergonomics program, which is mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.

The FDA has approximately 22,000 employees across 350 facilities nationwide, including U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.

Work Details
The contractor will provide a range of ergonomic services, including:
- Individual in-person ergonomic assessments nationwide
- Individual virtual ergonomic assessments nationwide
- Staffing for the Ergonomics Resource Center (ERC) located at the Federal Research Center at White Oak in Silver Spring, Maryland, starting with up to two days per week
- Conducting various types of assessments such as basic/preventative assessments, reasonable accommodation assessments, office assessments, return-to-work assessments, post-injury assessments, assistive technology assessments, follow-up assessments, and virtual home office assessments.
- Providing equipment recommendations based on ergonomic evaluations.

Additionally, the contractor must utilize FDA's internal scheduling system for managing assessment requests and respond to inquiries within 24 hours. All ergonomic assessments must adhere to OSHA guidelines and include comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance consists of a 12-month base year with four optional 12-month extensions, expected to commence on September 30, 2024.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed nationwide across FDA facilities and include virtual assessments.
