eXVi Industry Day

Background
The Biological Technologies Office (BTO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is hosting an Industry Day to introduce the potential performer community to the eX Virentia (eXVi) program.

The eXVi program is a high-risk, high-reward research initiative aimed at understanding how plants respond to manmade chemical compounds, with the goal of utilizing unmodified vegetation as sensors for identifying activities of interest to the Department of Defense (DoD).

Work Details
The Industry Day will include:
1. An introduction to the eXVi program vision and goals for the science and technology community, including industry, academia, and government;
2. An explanation of DARPA program mechanics and specific objectives and milestones of the eXVi program;
3. Promotion of teaming arrangements among organizations with relevant expertise and capabilities for executing research under the eXVi program.

The research will focus on:
1. The uptake and internal response of plant species to chemical compounds;
2. The external observable effects of chemical compound exposure;
3. Modeling and prediction of both internal and external responses;
4. Understanding how these responses scale to global plant species and chemicals relevant to defense missions.

Period of Performance
The Industry Day is scheduled for October 10, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
