Description

This is a Request for Information (RFI) seeking feedback from industry suppliers of domestic food distribution programs. The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is exploring the possibility of expanding kosher and halal food options for USDA Foods nutrition assistance programs. For current USDA vendors, AMS is inquiring about the products you currently provide to USDA Foods programs that have a kosher or halal certification and the non-USDA Foods kosher and halal products you sell commercially. This RFI will assist AMS in identifying product availability and vendors' capabilities to produce kosher and halal certified products.

Background
This is a Request for Information (RFI) seeking feedback from industry suppliers of domestic food distribution programs. The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is exploring the possibility of expanding kosher and halal food options for USDA Foods nutrition assistance programs. This RFI will assist AMS in identifying product availability and vendors’ capabilities to produce kosher and halal certified products.

Work Details
USDA requests that commenters respond in detail to the items to help inform USDA on kosher and halal product capabilities. Products that are purchased by USDA can be found at USDA Foods Expected to be Available. For the purposes of this RFI, “commercial” is defined as products sold in typical consumer-sized packaging found in major retailers nationwide or products that are commonly sold to distributors for use in K-12 foodservice.
Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability, examples of certifications are listed:
1. Do you currently supply any USDA Foods products that are Kosher or Halal certified? If yes, please complete the table with USDA Foods Material Code, Product Description, and Kosher or Halal Certification*.
2. What commercial products (non-USDA Foods) does your company produce that are Kosher or Halal certified? Please complete the table with Product Description and Kosher or Halal Certification*.
