Background
The purpose of this solicitation is to procure ENGINEERING SUPPORT SERVICES for non-commercial engineering services to develop and qualify a replacement system for the current Data Acquisition System (DAS) consisting of a Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) and an Enhanced Crash Survivable Memory Unit (ECSMU). This effort is Phase I of work required to resolve obsolescence issues with the following: NSN: 6610-01-615-7988 Part Number: 160333-11-01 Flight Data Recorder. This Engineering Support Services effort is sole sourced to GE Aviation Systems LCC (GE Aviation), Grand Rapids, MI, (CAGE 35351).

Work Details
Phase I will consist of completing a preliminary design and obtaining design approval by the System Program Office and Representative. The primary purpose of this effort is to provide a new Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) that is a combination of the current Data Acquisition Unit and the Enhanced Crash Survivable Memory Unit. This effort is to be accomplished utilizing the current mounting provisions and wiring configuration of the F-16 Aircraft. Due to parts obsolescence issues and in order to increase long-term sustainability for fleet management, a redesign of the Data Acquisition System LRU into a single configuration is desired, combining both the functionalities of the current DAU and ECSMU into a single unit.

A modified, redesigned, and tested version of the DAS must meet the aircraft current form, fit, and function. Phase I will include engineering design of a prototype that will meet the requirements of the Performance Work Statement (PWS) including an engineering test plan and prototype drawings. A report detailing the findings and proposed resolution plan will be the primary contract deliverable at the end of Phase I.

Period of Performance
Period of Performance (PoP) shall be a thirty-six (36) month period. Start date for this PoP begins on contract effective date.
