Description

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Helicopter Program Office, HH-60W Division (AFLCMC/WIH) is officially conducting market research that will be used to assess the ability of companies and industry at large to design, develop, integrate, test, produce and sustain a light weight Degraded Visual Environment System (DVES) for the HH-60W. This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) only. AFLCMC/WIH is issuing this SSS to explore cost-effective options to provide this capability and to obtain valuable industry feedback. The Government is issuing this SSS solely for information and planning purposes. The Government will consider responses to determine the acquisition strategy for a prospective HH-60W DVES contract.

Background
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Helicopter Program Office, HH-60W Division (AFLCMC/WIH) is conducting market research to assess the ability of companies and industry to design, develop, integrate, test, produce and sustain a light weight Degraded Visual Environment System (DVES) for the HH-60W. This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) only. AFLCMC/WIH is issuing this SSS to explore cost-effective options to provide this capability and to obtain valuable industry feedback. The Government will consider responses to determine the acquisition strategy for a prospective HH-60W DVES contract.

Work Details
The system shall provide real-time display with latency less than 100ms on all cockpit and cabin multifunction displays (MFD) in conjunction with tactical flight symbology for enhanced aircraft navigation and pilotage capabilities in both day and night DVE conditions. It shall allow aircrew to identify enroute hazards such as terrain, antennas, wires, and poles.

The DVE system shall provide symbology and cueing that indicates obstacle/obstruction distances from the aircraft during all critical mission segments. It shall detect and display a spatially accurate depiction of obstacles in the area of interest including objects greater than or equal to 2 feet cubed, poles greater than 30 feet tall and 5 inches in diameter, wires greater than 3/8 inch in diameter, depressions greater than 2’ x 2’ x 1’ (length, width, depth) and variations in landing zone terrain greater than 2’ in height from a distance of 50 meters and 50’ above ground level. The system shall integrate with existing HH-60W sensor, display, navigation, and flight management systems to the maximum extent practical.

The contract will be performed at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
