Background
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is responsible for providing logistics support to the military services and other federal agencies. This contract aims to enhance the Defense Disposition Services facility at Fort Meade, MD, through significant site improvements that will improve operational efficiency and safety.

Work Details
The project encompasses various construction tasks categorized as follows:

Civil work includes constructing retaining walls, expanding the west storage driveway ramp, adding roll-off docks, a pre-engineered storage shed, highway trailer scales, radiation monitors, covered loading docks at Building 77, installing a buried oil/water tank separator, replacing entrance and exit gates, rehabilitating existing pavements, constructing new pavements for truck staging, correcting site drainage issues, and maintaining stormwater management facilities.

Architectural work involves demolishing exterior entrances and existing bathrooms/break rooms, constructing new bathrooms/break rooms and loading dock extensions, repairing/replacing damage on the exterior envelope, and creating new office/admin spaces.

Structural tasks include building two loading docks on the south side of Building 77, restrooms and administration offices within Building 77, site retaining walls, and a three-sided covered storage building designed as Risk Category II structures per applicable codes.

Mechanical/HVAC work consists of reconfiguring existing HVAC systems and adding new equipment to suit new layouts in Building 77. This includes installing natural gas-fired radiant heaters for loading docks and large circulation fans for air movement.

Plumbing work involves designing a complete sanitary drainage system and modifying domestic water systems in Buildings 77 and 78.

Fire protection/life safety tasks include modifying the sprinkler system with a new central cross main in the East Warehouse and extending fire alarm systems to protect the West Warehouse Bay.

Electrical work includes providing a new panelboard for relocated equipment power supply, upgrading interior lighting to energy-efficient LED fixtures, relocating existing circuits for equipment charging stations, and upgrading perimeter site lighting.
