PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project is located in Death Valley National Park in Inyo County. Death Valley National Park sustained significant roadway damage park wide due to historic rainfall from Hurricane Hillary. The base schedule consists of pavement patching and armoring on multiple routes, removing and replacing asphalt on harmony borax trail, and roadway reconditioning and placing new culverts on West Side Road. Option X consists of pavement patching and armoring on Emigrant Canyon Road from MP 0.0 to MP 8.0.

SCOPE OF THE WORK:

This project consists of pavement patching, roadway reconditioning, armoring, sign installation and replacement, and installing new gates on multiple routes throughout the park. Armoring consists of paved shoulders, gabion walls, revet mattresses and a combination of revet mattresses with concrete barrier.

The desert tortoise is present along some routes at elevations higher than 2,000 feet. Biological and Archeological monitors will be required for the duration of the project. The contractor will be allowed to set up stand tanks at three locations within the park to collect water. There are limitations to the quantity of water that can be pulled from each source per day.

The estimated bid range is between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000.
