Building 1283 NEX HVAC System Repairs (Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island)

Background
Naval Station Newport has a requirement to replace a dual gas-fired furnace with a direct expansion (DX) cooling coil in Building 1283. The existing gas fired furnace is beyond repair. The cooling system is still operational, but the entire system is well over 30 years old and should be replaced.

Work Details
The project consists of replacing the dual gas-fired furnace, the direct expansion cooling coil unit, and the condensing unit with new equipment similar to the existing equipment in size, capacity, function, configuration, and power supply requirements. The work also includes evacuating old refrigerant, adjusting HVAC ductwork, plumbing, and electrical as necessary, charging the newly replaced air conditioning system with appropriate refrigerant, installing all equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions, and inspecting and testing the newly installed HVAC system to ensure proper operation.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for the contract is 270 days.

Place of Performance
The work shall be performed at Building 1283, Navy Exchange Mini-Mart located at the Greene Lane Housing Area, Naval Station Newport, Newport, RI.
