Background
The Department of Commerce (DOC), specifically the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its National Weather Service (NWS), is seeking to gather industry feedback for the development, deployment, and operation of Cloud AWIPS. This initiative aims to transition operations and applications from legacy on-premise infrastructure into a cloud environment, enhancing the efficiency of implementing new capabilities post-deployment.

This notice serves as a market research tool and does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or contracts.

Work Details
The RFI outlines several objectives for potential vendors:
1. Understand the range of solutions available to support Cloud AWIPS requirements.
2. Explore the feasibility of initiating NWS operations within Cloud AWIPS by the end of 2026.
3. Gather industry considerations that would make this acquisition appealing for future proposals. Respondents are required to provide a written solution description addressing high-level requirements/specifications, including: technical basis, opportunities and risks, a high-level schedule for implementation by the end of 2026, rough cost estimates for establishing and operating the approach for one year, and responses to specific evaluation questions regarding vendor selection criteria.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance extends through the implementation phase aimed at achieving operational capability by the end of 2026, with ongoing evolution over subsequent years.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed in a cloud environment designated by NOAA/NWS.
