Description

STATEMENT OF WORK Contract Title: iBright FL 1500 Gel Documentation System Background: The VA has previously housed a myECL Imager from ThermoFisher for a Gel documentation system; however it stopped working several months ago, and is now obsolete and deemed unrepairable. ThermoFisher recommends the FL1500 as a replacement to the previously used equipment. To order brand-new, the cost would be $65-70k. This equipment is used to support Dr. Matthew Rondina s research study (HEMA-005-22S) a few times each day. The current work around has been to use other lab s equipment that is similar, or improvising methods that are less than optimal for scientific study. Scope: It is requested to purchase a refurbished iBright FL1500. This equipment is primarily used to visualize nucleic acids (DNA/RNA) separated on agarose gels. The system requested can visualize proteins with chemiluminescence and fluorescent technology. The iBright FL1500 Imaging System supports the main imaging applications of fluorescent, chemiluminescent, and colorimetric western blots, in addition to fluorescent stained nucleic acid gels, fluorescent stained protein gels, colorimetric stained protein gels, and colorimetric membrane stains. We also offer the iBright CL1500 Imaging System, which features the same imaging capabilities as the iBright FL1500 Imaging System, but without fluorescent western blot imaging functionality. This high-performance instrument enhances the imaging experience through powerful hardware, advanced automated technologies, and an interface that is easy to use for researchers of all experience levels. Technical Specifications: Features of the iBright FL1500 Imaging System include: 9.1 MP cooled CCD camera high sensitivity and dynamic range to help enable the detection of subtle differences in samples Five fluorescence channels multiplex and capture up to four proteins in a single blot for more meaningful and representative experiments Smart Exposure technology provides rapid determination of optimal exposure time to help minimize the need to repeat exposures to acquire the desired signal High Dynamic Range Imaging* Smart Range HDR combines optimized short and long exposures into a single HDR image to capture an extended linear dynamic range and providing high-quality non-saturated data for improved quantitation Simple interface clear layout of functions and features combined with a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen for a smooth imaging experience Advanced automated features automatic sample rotation, automatic zoom, and automatic focus help streamline image capture 22.5 x 18.0-cm field of view large field of view for high-throughput imaging (image up to four mini or two midi blots at a time) Green LED-based transilluminator effectively excite popular DNA dyes such as ethidium bromide and Invitrogen SYBR Green dyes with an alternative to UV-based transilluminators Expanded imaging applications* capture and analyze visible, chemiluminescent or fluorescent stained colonies on single- or multi-well cell culture plates using the optimized imaging channels and onboard analysis workflows Flexible connectivity export captured images via ethernet connection, Wi-Fi (with optional accessory), USB, or directly to Connect cloud-based platform Multiple image analysis options perform densitometry, quantitation, and normalization directly using the on-instrument software, or for more in-depth analysis use iBright Analysis Software (available in both desktop and cloud-based versions) Dimensions: 68 x 38x 60 cm Format: Image formats: G2i (proprietary), TIFF, JPG, PNG, PDF Weight: 50kg (110 lb.) Room temperature for shipping conditions For use with applications: Chemiluminescent Western Blot Imagain, DNA Gel Imagin, Fluorescent Western Blot Imagin, Protein Gel Imaging Contract Type: One time buy, equipment purchase, with a one-year service warranty and preventative maintenance package. Place of Performance/Ship To: SLC VAMC WHSE7/RESEARCH/TOLLEY 500 S Foothill Dr. SLC, UT 84148 Security Requirements: The C&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has previously utilized a myECL Imager from ThermoFisher for gel documentation; however, this equipment has become obsolete and unrepairable.
ThermoFisher recommends the iBright FL1500 as a suitable replacement. The new equipment costs between $65,000 and $70,000 and is essential for supporting Dr. Matthew Rondina's research study (HEMA-005-22S) conducted multiple times daily.
Currently, alternative lab equipment is being used, which is not optimal for scientific purposes.
