Background
The New York State Monument, located on Grant Circle in Vicksburg National Military Park, is a granite obelisk standing 43-feet tall, dedicated on October 17, 1917. The monument has been subjected to environmental pollutants and shows signs of soiling typical for outdoor monuments in humid conditions. The National Park Service aims to maintain the monument's integrity through this contract for scaffolding installation, which will facilitate necessary cleaning and masonry work.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and travel necessary to design, erect, assemble, and install OSHA-compliant scaffolding around the New York Monument. The scaffolding must be erected on all four sides of the monument and include one staircase for entry and one ladder on the opposite side. Specific requirements include:

- Scaffolding must allow access to all stone surfaces for hand cleaning and masonry repointing.
- Each level of scaffolding should be spaced 7 feet apart.
- Each level must have a fully planked, guard-railed, and toe-boarded deck.
- Access to the upper scaffold level must be via an integrated stair within the safety rail perimeter.
- The contractor must protect all stone surfaces from damage during installation.

Period of Performance
14 days of rental, not including set-up and tear down.
