Addition of Cost Type CLINs for Engineering Services Supportand Material for the Surface Mine Countermeasure Unmanned Undersea Vehicle(SMCM UUV), Knifefish

The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to issue a modification on a sole source basis to General Dynamics Advanced Information System (GDAIS), 5440 Millstream Road, McLeansville, NC 27301 to establish two new cost type Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) for Support for Engineering Services and Material in support of Engineering Services (CLIN 0002). GDAIS is currently the designer and developer of the SMCM UUV System and the only source available that can satisfy the Navy's requirements in a timely manner without negative impact to either the SMCM UUV or Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) programs. GDAIS possesses the expertise, internal technical data, equipment, and required personnel necessary to satisfactorily provide the Support for Engineering Services. Recompeting this contract would result in a 2 year schedule delay which would not meet the needs of the Navy and also result in duplicative costs to the Government.
