10 SOPS Viacontrol Software

Background
The 10th Space Operations Squadron (10SOPS) operates continuously to support Satellite Operations, located at Point Mugu, CA and Prospect Harbor, ME. They utilize SCN antennas and two critical 9.1-meter Viasat antennas for telemetry data collection and command transmission to ensure satellite health and safety.

The existing VIA CONTROL software currently in use is based on CentOS Linux 7, which will reach End of Life (EOL) on June 30, 2024. Consequently, an updated version of the VIA CONTROL software using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 is required to maintain compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance (IA).

Work Details
The contractor is tasked with providing a software upgrade to the VIA CONTROL system using RHEL 8 and ensuring compliance with the DoD IA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). Specific requirements include:
- Development of a RHEL 8 version of the VIA CONTROL software compliant with DoD IA STIG.
- Installation of the compliant RHEL 8 and VIA CONTROL software on four HPE DL360 Gen 10+ servers at the customer headquarters located at 661 13th Street, Point Mugu, CA.
- Installation and testing of one HPE DL360 Gen10+ server at each of the two Viasat antenna locations: Laguna Peak and Prospect Harbor. Testing will involve live Ultra-High Frequency Follow-on (UFO) and Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellites in geosynchronous orbits. Tests will include:
• Verification of Viacontrol access and equipment interfaces
• Confirmation of Viacontrol configuration transfer
• Scheduling support via Viacontrol
• Access control for ACU to manage antenna movement
• Unified S-Band uplink command tests
• S-Band downlink telemetry tests
• Demonstration of accurate ranging capabilities
• Demonstration of auto-tracking capabilities.
