Description
Utility Helicopter Mods is focused on the modification of the UH-60 Black Hawk and the UH-72A Lakota helicopters. The specific goals of this program include enhancing the capabilities and performance of these helicopters to meet the evolving needs of the Army. The modifications aim to improve safety, reliability, maintainability, and reduced weight of the helicopters. Additionally, the program seeks to provide additional power for future systems such as Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM), Degraded Visual Environment (DVE), and the Future Waveform Radio. These modifications are essential for ensuring that the Army's utility helicopters remain effective and adaptable for a wide range of missions, including air assault, general support, command & control, and aero-medical evacuations (MEDEVAC).
The objectives of Program 6949AA0480 are to enhance the operational capabilities of the UH-60 Black Hawk and UH-72A Lakota helicopters through specific modifications. These objectives include upgrading the digital cockpit, digital Flight Management System (FMS), engines, and main rotor blades of the UH-60 Black Hawk to improve its performance in adverse weather conditions and at night. The program also aims to provide general aviation support for aviation units in the active and reserve components through modifications to the UH-72A Lakota helicopter. Furthermore, it seeks to ensure that these helicopters are equipped with advanced systems such as Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM), Degraded Visual Environment (DVE), and the Future Waveform Radio to meet future operational requirements.
