Description
LCS Class Support Equipment aims to procure long-lead major end items and sub-component kits required for repairs to both variants of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) in the Navy. The program's objectives include mitigating major long-lead replacement times due to system failures and casualties, increasing the availability of vital Fleet assets by reducing repair part procurement and delivery times, and ensuring the availability of shore-based battle spares to meet Fleet requirements in the event of a failure or major casualty to key ship systems. Additionally, the program aims to procure spare water jets and water jet components for both LCS variants, provide engineering and technical support for LCS Class Support Equipment, and procure connective equipment necessary to ensure fit and function of procured LCS Class Support Equipment when installed.
The program also supports the re-planned priority of previous high failure equipment from Freedom Variant to Independence Variant, addressing operational readiness by making changes to high failure equipment such as Twin-Boom Extensible Crane (Independence Variant), Multi Aircraft Nose & Tail Gear Integrated System (Independence Variant), Sea Giraffe 3D Radar (Independence Variant), and Air Conditioning Plant (Independence Variant). The program's funding supports the procurement of multiple LCS Battlespares, ensuring the availability of critical equipment in case of operational failures. These efforts are guided by reliability, maintainability, and availability data, NAVSEA RMA guidance, critical application of equipment, and inputs from the NAVSEA 05 technical community.
