Description
Jet Assisted Take Off (JATOs) is a Navy procurement initiative aimed at acquiring Mk-85 rocket motors in matched pairs to launch subsonic aerial targets. The program's specific objectives include supporting fleet training, maintaining inventory levels for fleet training and qualification usage, and meeting fleet operational and joint exercise requirements during Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT). The funding for FY 2024 is intended to support the procurement of Mk-85 rocket motors, production engineering support, integrated logistics support, safety, product improvement, quality assurance, and acceptance testing. The quantities are based on current and projected expenditures, ready for issue SSAT inventory, target operating site build capabilities, and maintaining inventory in accordance with OPNAV SSAT authorized allocation.
The program also aims to provide production support for RATO (Rocket Assisted Take Off) and JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) systems. This includes increased RATO manufacture engineering costs in production and acceptance testing and increased shipping/transportation costs. The program's production schedule outlines the delivery quantities for each fiscal year and the manufacturing lead times. Additionally, the program seeks to ensure that the manufacturing lead times align with the total after October 1st delivery schedule. Overall, Program 0194 aims to meet the Navy's specific needs for rocket motors to support subsonic aerial target launches while ensuring efficient production and delivery processes.
