Description
The Global Sensor Integrated on Network (GSIN), now referred to as Global Data Integration (GDI), is designed to enhance the United States' strategic command and control capabilities. It integrates various data sources into a unified system, supporting the missions of US Space Command (USSPACECOM) and US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). This initiative provides comprehensive data integration for missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence, and other critical information. The primary goal is to create a resilient and unambiguous data set accessible to national leadership for effective decision-making.
GDI supports the Department of Defense's Data Strategy by making previously isolated data accessible and analyzable across different mission perspectives. The program facilitates real-time collaboration through a User-Defined Operating Picture (UDOP), enhancing situational awareness for nuclear command and control. By integrating over 1,300 diverse data sources, GDI aims to improve algorithms and provide earlier cross-cueing capabilities, which are crucial in time-sensitive scenarios.
Additionally, GDI focuses on improving Space Domain Awareness (SDA) by incorporating non-traditional sensor data into the Space Force satellite catalog. This effort addresses the need for uninterrupted sensor data integration, supporting global threat characterization assessments. The program also includes developing cross-domain solutions, machine learning applications, and data analysis functions to optimize situational awareness in the field.
The GDI program encompasses two major thrusts: development efforts like DATABAHN and Fusion Engine for All-Source Tracking (FEAST), and integration of radar, sensor, technical intelligence, and allied systems data. These efforts aim to enhance operational resiliency through redundant nodes and improve geolocation accuracy by fusing various intelligence data types. The program leverages existing government contracts where possible to achieve its objectives efficiently while ensuring that all contracts are competitively awarded when feasible.
