Description
The Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming (EWIR) program is a key initiative within the Air Force, focusing on enhancing the interoperability of electronic systems across the Department of Defense (DoD). The program's primary objective is to employ the System of System Technology Integration Tool Chain for Heterogeneous Electronic Systems (STITCHES) to integrate incompatible systems without altering their source code. This integration is facilitated by the STITCHES Warfighter Application Team (SWAT) at the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, which is responsible for deploying these capabilities to various DoD entities. The overarching goal is to provide warfighters with advanced electromagnetic spectrum capabilities that enhance tactical and strategic advantages.

A significant component of the EWIR program involves developing and deploying secure cloud structures and information systems. This includes establishing repositories compliant with NDAA 2021 Section 804 across various classification levels within Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and FENCES cloud environments. The aim is to maintain Authorizations to Operate (ATO) for these systems, ensuring they can integrate data from unclassified through top-secret levels on both Department of Defense Information Networks (DODIN) and standalone systems. This effort supports enterprise program management by creating a scalable infrastructure that enhances data accessibility and security.

Another critical objective of the EWIR program is improving STITCHES verification, validation, and testing capabilities. This involves automating processes, developing user interfaces, and streamlining development efforts in coordination with DoD test, accreditation, and certification authorities. By enhancing these capabilities, the program aims to facilitate technology integration experiments with command and control data models and software-defined wide area networks. These improvements are designed to ensure that STITCHES-integrated systems meet rigorous standards and can be effectively deployed across various military operations.

The EWIR program also focuses on developing new kill chain applications and enabling emerging Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) technologies. By leveraging STITCHES, the 350 SWW seeks to create novel configurations of fielded DoD systems, integrating previously incompatible weapon systems, sensors, and communication platforms. This initiative involves collaboration with multiple military services and commands, such as United States Indo-Pacific Command and European Command, to address traditional electronic warfare challenges while identifying new gaps in air, maritime, space, and cyberspace domains. Through these efforts, the program aims to deliver cutting-edge electronic warfare capabilities that enhance operational effectiveness across diverse theaters of operation.
