Description
The Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS-AF) is integral to the Combat Air Force's Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance capabilities. Its main goal is to provide Joint Task Force Commanders and other military leaders with timely intelligence data and multi-intelligence products. This system connects and exploits various sensors, transforming data into actionable intelligence to support military operations. It significantly contributes to the Department of Defense's intelligence infrastructure, playing a role in the Joint All Domain Command and Control and Advanced Battle Management System initiatives.
The program aims to enhance its capabilities through several key transformations. The GEOINT Transformation focuses on integrating new geospatial intelligence capabilities, including high-altitude and full-motion video sensors. Similarly, the Signals Intelligence Transformation seeks to update specific operational workflows and sensor management capabilities. These efforts are crucial for maintaining comprehensive situational awareness across various domains.
Another objective is the Multi-Intelligence Transformation, which involves integrating enterprise applications for voice communication, collaboration, and data analytics. This includes leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to improve data fusion and analysis processes. Additionally, updating the network architecture aims to enhance data transfer, storage capabilities, and cyber resilience.
The DCGS-AF program is committed to maintaining operational readiness by incorporating modern technologies and addressing emerging threats. It supports ongoing operations from both forward-deployed locations and in-garrison sites within the continental United States and overseas. By aligning with Department of Defense directives, it ensures that current operational needs are met while preparing for future challenges in contested environments.
