The Aviation ASSURED PNT program is a key Army initiative under Budget Line Item 8662A01006, focused on providing Army aviation platforms with assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (A-PNT) capabilities. The primary objective is to ensure aircrews have reliable access to trusted PNT information, even in contested or GPS-degraded environments. This capability is critical for mission success and safe recovery, especially as adversaries increasingly target GPS signals through jamming or spoofing. The program supports the Army Transformation Initiative and aligns with broader Department of Defense (DoD) modernization goals.
The program's goals are achieved through the procurement and integration of several core technologies. The Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation System (EGI) EAGLE-M is being installed across the Army Aviation Air Vehicle Enterprise. EAGLE-M introduces the ability to process the new military code (M-Code) GPS signal, which enhances security and resilience against electronic warfare threats. The system is configurable to accept position, velocity, and time measurements from alternate or complementary PNT sources, supporting future capabilities such as ALT-PNT and enabling Multi-Domain Operations (MDO).
Another major component is the Multi-platform Anti-jam GPS Navigation Antenna (MAGNA). MAGNA is an adaptive antenna system designed to receive both legacy and modernized GPS signals while actively rejecting interfering signals. This anti-jam capability is vital for maintaining uninterrupted access to GPS-provided PNT in environments where GPS jamming is prevalent. MAGNA integration involves both A-kit and B-kit procurement and installation, with costs varying by platform type and quantity.
The Doppler Global Positioning System Navigation Set (DGNS) Upgrade is also included in the Aviation ASSURED PNT line item. The DGNS upgrade focuses on system engineering improvements to reduce space, weight, and power requirements, while also supporting compliance with current and future civil airspace regulations. This ensures that Army aviation platforms remain compatible with both military and civilian airspace requirements, enhancing operational flexibility.
Funding for FY 2026 is distributed across these components, supporting EAGLE-M integration and installation, as well as MAGNA B-kit procurement and integration. The program also supports recurring cost savings through the acquisition of EAGLE-M retrofit kits, enabling increased quantities to be fielded. System Test and Evaluation activities are funded as non-recurring costs, ensuring that new capabilities are thoroughly validated before full deployment.
The Aviation ASSURED PNT program is executed primarily through Modification Work Orders (MWOs), with manufacturers such as Honeywell (Clearwater, FL) and Mayflower Communications (Bedford, MA) providing key system components. The program affects a wide range of Army aviation platforms, including UH/HH-60, CH-47, AH-64, fixed-wing, and unmanned aerial systems. By layering assurance through modernized GPS receivers, anti-jam technologies, and alternate PNT solutions, the program aims to provide robust, resilient navigation capabilities for Army aviation in increasingly complex operational environments.
