Description
The Three Dimensional Long-Range Radar (3DELRR) program falls under the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) Budget Activity 3600 for the Air Force's Advanced Component Development & Prototypes (ACD&P). The primary goal of this program is to replace the aging AN/TPS-75 radar system with the 3DELRR system, which will serve as the USAF's principal long-range, ground-based sensor for detecting, identifying, tracking, and reporting aerial tracks for the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC). The objectives include developing and testing the TPY-4 radar system, integrating it with external agencies such as the United States Army and Navy & Marine Corps, conducting test and evaluation activities to characterize performance and cybersecurity posture, and planning for initial operational test & evaluation to support fielding decision.

The program aims to achieve several specific objectives. These include developing and testing the TPY-4 radar system, integrating it with external agencies such as the United States Army and Navy & Marine Corps, conducting test and evaluation activities to characterize performance and cybersecurity posture, and planning for initial operational test & evaluation to support fielding decision. Additionally, the program seeks to implement full complement of electronic protection techniques, unique classification techniques, additional clutter algorithms, and design radar templates for other natural and electronic attack environments. The budget allocation for FY2024 supports continued capability development for the 3DELRR system through various activities such as electronic protection techniques development, classification and clutter algorithms enhancement, integration with external agencies using specific interfaces, cybersecurity assessments, mobility evaluations, initial maintenance demonstrations, and more.
