Threat Simulator Development

Known as Threat Simulator Development is a part of the Army's Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) budget activity. The specific goal of this program is to design, develop, acquire, integrate, and field realistic mobile threat simulators and threat simulation products for use in Army and Department of Defense (DoD) training and developmental and operational tests. These simulators represent adversary systems such as missile systems, command and control systems, electronic warfare systems, etc., to create a realistic threat environment during the testing of U.S. weapon systems. The program also aims to support the Army's non-system-specific threat product requirements by coordinating with existing Army/DoD and Tri-Service capabilities to eliminate duplication of effort.

Additionally, the program seeks to respond to Office of the Secretary of Defense and Government Accountability Office guidance for the Army to conduct operational testing in a realistic threat environment. It also supports testing of Army Modernization Priority Programs and is accomplished under the auspices of the Project Manager for Cyber Test and Training (PM CT2) and the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) Threat Simulator Investment Working Group. The funding line supports testing of Army Modernization Priority Programs.
