TAO Fleet Oiler

TAO Fleet Oiler is a Navy initiative aimed at recapitalizing the existing T-AO 187 fleet oiler class. The program's specific goal is to supply fuel and dry cargo to Navy ships at sea through the operation of shuttle ships from resupply posts to customer ships. Additionally, in conjunction with a T-AKE, the fleet oilers will accompany and stay on-station with a Carrier Strike Group (CSG) to provide fuel as required to customer ships. The program also aims to upgrade the Network Management System (NMS) 2.0 to the Navy Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) program of record.

The specific objectives of Program 5025 include the construction and delivery of T-AO Fleet Oilers, such as T-AO 213 and T-AO 214, within specified timelines. The program also involves funding for non-recurring engineering and integration efforts to upgrade the FY 2023 and follow-on ships from NMS 2.0 to CANES. Additionally, it includes funding for Completion of Prior Year Shipbuilding Programs (cost to complete) for T-AO ships awarded in FY 2022 and later. These objectives are aligned with the broader goal of modernizing and enhancing the Navy's fleet oiler capabilities to support its operational requirements effectively.
