Description
Tactical Network Technology Mod In Svc supports the Army's Network Modernization Priority by modernizing the Tactical Network Transport, which enables mission command at the Battalion through the Theater level. The program aims to connect highly mobile and dispersed forces to the Army's global information network, allowing information sharing from theater down to the maneuver battalion and to joint and multinational elements. It also focuses on modernizing systems that have been in the field for up to 20 years, providing technology insertion on a five-to-seven-year cycle to improve security and resiliency of the network, reducing life cycle costs, and divesting aging systems through their replacement by updated systems.
The Network Integration Technology Enhancement (NITE) is a part of this program and focuses on modernizing the Joint Network Node and Command Post Node to provide network connectivity at Brigade and Battalion Command posts. Additionally, the program includes efforts to modernize beyond line of sight communications solutions for Expeditionary Signal Battalions, evaluate emerging satellite technologies for tactical units, and provide on-the-move network transport for Armored formations. These efforts aim to support the near-term objectives of the Army Network Modernization Strategy by standardizing the Tactical Network Transport baseline, providing technology insertion for cyber and electronic warfare resiliency, introducing new capabilities and technologies through engineering changes, and ensuring acquisition agility to respond to the network environment in which it operates.
