Description
Next Generation Air Dominance is a research and development initiative within the Air Force aimed at advancing air superiority for the Joint Force in challenging operational environments. The program focuses on enhancing survivability, lethality, persistence, crewed/uncrewed teaming, and interoperability across various military operations. It involves digital acquisitions through digital engineering, agile software development, open systems architectures, and digital systems infrastructure. The funding supports operational concept exploration, technology studies, multi-domain integration assessments, operational and system architecture development, maturation and risk reduction of air superiority related technologies, including autonomy and weapons systems. Additionally, the program aims to provide program management support and make NGAD technologies available to other DoD systems based on emerging threats and AF priorities.

Program PE 0207110F also includes Project 646007: AS 2030 Air Dominance Technologies (ADT), which focuses on maturing technology and reducing risk through development, integration, and test activities. It aims to enhance survivability, lethality, persistence, and interoperability across a range of military operations. The program involves the pursuit of open architecture solutions and supports strategic choices through ongoing studies to refine system concepts and operational/system architectures. The acquisition strategy is based on top-down, multi-domain capabilities development planning and oversight framework with cross-functional teams conducting analysis, demonstrations, and experiments to quantify the operational value of alternative concepts and technologies.

In addition to the above initiatives, Program PE 0207110F also encompasses Project 647123: Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), which focuses on uncrewed weapon systems capable of enhancing crewed weapon systems to achieve air superiority. The program leverages Science and Technology investments to reduce risk by conducting targeted development, integration, and test activities. Key attributes include tailored cost of platforms, mission integrated autonomy, multi-platform interoperability, and lethality enhancement. The program involves digital acquisitions through digital engineering, agile software development, open systems architectures as well as information technology/test/training infrastructure investments. Program management support costs include A&AS, civilian pay, supplies, facility-related expenses as well as risk reduction of air superiority related technologies including integrated weapons systems development and demonstration.

Overall these programs aim to advance air dominance capabilities through technological innovation while managing costs effectively.
