Description
Marine Corps Air Defense Weapons Systems aims to support the Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion's missions of Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD), Medium Range Air Defense, and provide the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) with necessary force protection against a full spectrum of threats associated with the Marine Corps Low Altitude Air Defense mission. The program focuses on acquiring more lethal and survivable air defense weapon systems platforms, such as JLTVs with armored protection, to enhance Counter-UAS capabilities and provide increased protection against hostile aerial threats from Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Additionally, the Medium Range Intercept Capability (MRIC) component of the program aims to defend fixed and operationally fixed sites primarily against subsonic/supersonic cruise missiles and secondarily against UAS and other aerial threats within the MRIC's Weapons Engagement Zone (WEZ). The program also supports the development of CUAS solutions in support of deployed Marines and critical facilities.

The specific objectives of Program PE 0605520M include ramping up product development and testing of the MADIS Inc 1 Block 2 to increase lethality in response to advancing adversary capabilities. This includes initiation of System Integration Test (SIT) #2, System Verification Test (SVT) #2, and Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E) of the L-MADIS. The program also focuses on supporting the Medium Range Intercept Capability (MRIC) through multiple testing events, including environmental, interoperability, transportability testing, and initiation of Quick Reaction Assessment (QRA) required prior to deployment. Additionally, the program aims to enhance force protection through the I-CsUAS program of record and demonstration of its capability. Overall, the program seeks to continually spiral out increasing capability for the foreseeable future in response to evolving threats.
