Description
The Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) under the Missile Defense Agency, aims to contribute to the development and deployment of a layered Missile Defense System to defend the homeland from missile attacks of all ranges and phases of flight. The program's specific objectives include providing persistent long-range midcourse discrimination, precision tracking, and hit assessment as an element of the Missile Defense System Homeland Defense Capability. It also supports the Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Object Identification (SOI) mission area. The LRDR Program Element includes designing, developing, integrating, delivering, fielding, and sustaining the LRDR. The program focuses on enhancing Missile Defense System effectiveness against evolving threats by improving its architecture to better discriminate and interpret re-entry vehicles with a higher degree of confidence.

The LRDR program supports and contributes to the Missile Defense Agency's mission by developing and deploying a layered Missile Defense System to defend the homeland from missile attacks of all ranges and phases of flight. The specific goals of this program include providing persistent long-range midcourse discrimination, precision tracking, and hit assessment as an element of the Missile Defense System Homeland Defense Capability. Additionally, the program aims to enhance Missile Defense System effectiveness against evolving threats by improving its architecture to better discriminate and interpret re-entry vehicles with a higher degree of confidence. This involves designing, developing, integrating, delivering, fielding, and sustaining the LRDR while supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Object Identification (SOI) mission areas. The LRDR operates in the S-band frequency with scalable and open systems architecture to mitigate evolving threats and integrates into the Missile Defense System through the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system.
