Description
The LAV PIP program aims to sustain and modify the Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) fleet to ensure operational readiness and effectiveness until the projected sunset date of FY 2035. This includes critical maintenance of authority to operate (ATO) and authority to connect (ATC), obsolescence management of C4ISR and jammer equipment, safety modifications, support equipment/tool sustainment, end-item product data management, and technical and engineering data management. The program also focuses on the procurement, integration, and fielding of Tactical Communication Modernization (TCM) vehicle radio sets to resolve operational deficiencies and meet the National Security Administration (NSA) mandate for NSA Compliant radios by 2024. Failure to meet this mandate would result in loss of ATO and render the fleet combat ineffective.
The specific objectives of the LAV PIP program include ensuring the fleet's compliance with NSA requirements for Tactical Communication Modernization (TCM) by 2024, as mandated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Notice (CJCSN) 6510. This involves funding the procurement, integration, and fielding of Tactical Communication Modernization (TCM) vehicle radio sets to resolve current operational deficiencies and interface with the new intercom system. Additionally, the program aims to address obsolescence management of C4ISR and jammer equipment, safety modifications, support equipment/tool sustainment, end-item product data management, and technical and engineering data management to ensure the operational readiness and effectiveness of the LAV fleet until FY 2035.
