Description
The Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS)-Intel is a critical system that disseminates near real-time warning, alerting, and cueing information on ballistic missile launches and other tactical events of interest throughout the theater using existing communication networks. This program provides crucial support to Combatant Commanders in their Areas of Responsibility (AOR). The JTAGS system is deployed in multiple theaters and is essential for providing timely and accurate warning information. The program's specific goal is to ensure compatibility with the Air Force's newer satellites (Space Based Infrared System) and to address obsolescence issues through the production and fielding of the JTAGS Block II Pre-Planned Product Improvement (P3I) system.
The primary objective of Program 9692BZ8401 is to transition the Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) to the US Space Force in FY 2024. This transition marks a significant shift in responsibility for the program. Additionally, the program aims to address obsolescence issues and ensure compatibility with the Air Force's newer satellites by producing and fielding the JTAGS Block II Pre-Planned Product Improvement (P3I) system. The program also has a specific goal of deploying JTAGS units in multiple theaters to provide critical support to Combatant Commanders in their Areas of Responsibility (AOR) by disseminating near real-time warning, alerting, and cueing information on ballistic missile launches and other tactical events of interest.
