ISR Modernization & Automation Dvmt (IMAD)

ISR Modernization & Automation Development (IMAD) is a research and development initiative within the Air Force aimed at modernizing and automating intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems. The specific goals of this program include developing and demonstrating technology to implement machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing environments on ISR systems. This initiative is in line with the Next Generation ISR Dominance Flight Plan and supports the National Defense Strategy's priority of operating at the speed of relevance. The program consists of two main components: Core Technologies in support of Algorithmic Warfare and Analysis Enterprise in support of Kill Chain Automation.

The Core Technologies component focuses on developing technologies using algorithms to support ISR operations at the scale and speed required in modern warfare against adversaries. This includes leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to reshape current processing, exploitation, and dissemination models for sustainable and effective ISR digital solutions. On the other hand, the Analysis Enterprise component aims to adapt large data sets into mission-ready data sets, allowing personnel to discover, manage, and analyze data for real-time intelligence products. Both components aim to relieve strain on manpower by investing in a more automated environment, aligning with the Secretary of the Air Force's directive to invest in automation to address future operational challenges.
