High Perf Computing Mod Pgm (HPCMP)

High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) managed by the Army, aims to provide advanced computational services to U.S. weapons system scientists and engineers, supporting the needs of all services for technological superiority and military dominance on the battlefield. By leveraging continuous advances in high-performance computing technology, the program enables the Defense Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and acquisition engineering community to address critical scientific and engineering problems with speed and precision. The program aligns its efforts with DoD National Defense Strategy priorities such as hypersonics, directed energy, autonomy, and artificial intelligence, contributing to improved weapons system designs through enhanced understanding of materials, aerodynamics, chemistry, fuels, acoustics, signal image recognition, electromagnetics, and other areas of basic and applied research.

The HPC Modernization program is a key enabling technology essential to achieving the objectives of the DoD's Science and Technology (S&T), Test and Evaluation (T&E), and acquisition communities. It deploys compute-intensive and data-intensive systems to provide world-class HPC capabilities to the DoD-wide user community. The program focuses on modernization efforts tailored to ensure that DoD's S&T and T&E communities are equipped with current-generation supercomputing capabilities. This initiative is a result of congressional recognition of supercomputing as a national strategic asset and a directive for the DoD to prioritize supercomputing modernization at laboratories and test centers to maintain technological leadership.
