Armored System Modernization - Adv Dev

Armored System Modernization - Adv Dev falls under the Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) Budget Activity 2040 for the Army's Advanced Component Development & Prototypes (ACD&P). The specific goal of this program is to provide maturation of emerging Science and Technology (S&T) and industry technologies for potential integration into ground combat vehicles. This includes demonstrating new capabilities to meet current and future military needs and determining integration potential across the Army portfolio of ground combat vehicles through testing and evaluating a variety of technologies. The program aims to support virtual and physical concept development, trade studies, technical and operational analyses to assess future concepts and designs, as well as provide program management, expertise, and a business process for the maturation and transition of emerging Science and Technology systems.

The funding for Armored System Modernization Advanced Development is aligned with the Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) Army Modernization Priority. It aims to bridge S&T investment to application on a vehicle platform, inform requirements through User Evaluations, identify capability gaps, reduce integration risks, and support survivability, lethality, and other soldier-defined system requirements. The program also supports the development and integration of systems for Ground Combat Systems (GCS) platforms. Additionally, it includes efforts such as government engineering & program management, developmental engineering for advanced technology concepts in ground combat vehicles, test & evaluation activities using United States Army test facilities, modeling & simulation efforts to experiment with various technologies in a virtual environment, and experimental prototyping for maturation of emerging S&T and industry technologies. These efforts are intended to provide focused investment for the development and demonstration of technology and prototyping for future combat vehicles in the battlefield.
