Objective
To assist State governments in the development and implementation of an authorized hazardous waste management program for the purpose of controlling the generation, transportation, treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes. Funding also supports states in their development and implementation of a Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) permitting program. In addition, in FY 2022 this listing includes a proposed pilot of a new Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) financing program focused on improving solid waste management infrastructure and post-consumer materials management using the new authority provided in the Save our Seas 2.0 Act, which was passed by Congress in December 2020. Funding Priority - Fiscal Year 2021 and Fiscal Year 2022: Assistance to State governments in the development and implementation of an authorized hazardous waste management program for the purpose of controlling the generation, transportation, treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste. Applicant Eligibility
State agencies responsible for hazardous waste management within the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and interstate agencies established by the appropriate states and approved by the EPA Administrator under Section 1005.
