To advance knowledge and understanding of the humanities, and strengthen the intellectual foundations of the humanities through the collaboration of scholars and the support of post-doctoral fellowship programs at independent research institutions.

B - Project Grants

For Collaborative Research, Scholarly Editions and Scholarly Translations, and Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research, U.S. public and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (including institutions of higher education), state and local governments, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments. For Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI), U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, a state or local governmental agency, or a federally recognized Indian tribal government with existing fellowship programs may apply. FPIRI applicant institutions must be financed, governed and administered independently of institutions of higher education.

U.S. citizens and residents, State and local governments, sponsored organizations, public and private nonprofit institutions/organizations, other public institutions/organizations, Federally recognized Indian tribal governments, Native American organizations, U.S. territories; non-governmental-general; minority organizations, other specialized groups; and quasi-public nonprofit institutions benefit.
