Objective
Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grants employ a comprehensive approach to community development centered on redeveloping severely distressed public housing and/or HUD-assisted housing. The program aims to transform neighborhoods of poverty into viable mixed-income neighborhoods with access to economic activities by revitalizing a target housing project and catalyzing critical improvements in the neighborhood, including vacant property, housing, businesses, services and schools.

Applicant Eligibility
For Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grants, the local government of jurisdiction must be either the Lead Applicant or Co-Applicant. The Lead Applicant can be either a Public Housing Agency (PHA), or owner of the target HUD-assisted housing (e.g., nonprofit or for-profit developer).
Beneficiary Eligibility
For Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grants, the ultimate beneficiaries are residents of the severely distressed public and/or assisted housing projects and residents of the surrounding community these grants aim to transform.
