Objective
NOAA's Competitive Research Program (CRP) supports the development of actionable information and tools that improve how the nation protects, manages, and conserves ocean and coastal ecosystems. CRP funds regional-scale and targeted research through a competitive, peer-reviewed process to deliver the highest-quality science in a timely manner for important coastal policy decisions by supporting high-priority research related to NOAA’s mission in the following areas; harmful algal blooms, hypoxia, coastal resiliency, sea-level rise, ocean acidification, mesophotic coral ecosystems and effective ecosystem-based management. CRP supports sound coastal management decisions by involving resource managers, planners, policymakers and impacted communities as research project partners or advisors to ensure useful results.

Applicant Eligibility
Institutions of higher education, not-for- profit institutions, State, , local and Indian tribal governments, commercial organizations and Federal agencies. Foreign researchers may apply as subawards through an eligible US entity. All applicants will be treated equally in the competitive process.
Beneficiary Eligibility
Organizations and individuals utilizing science in effectively managing the Nation’s coastal resources.
